Plaster the Web Contest!

We are officially less than 3 months away from the release of Ballads of Suburbia, so now I really need your help to get the word out about the book. When I was a crazy riot grrrl punk in the early nineties, we plastered every available surface stickers and flyers to promote bands and awareness of social issues. Of course that bordered on vandalism sometimes and I could never encourage that ;) but fortunately now we can do the totally legal cyber version of stickering and flyering. And I'm creating a contest out of it to make things interesting.

Some of my fabulous readers already created banners and widgets for Ballads that you can find in the downloads section and I've made it easy to put the code on your website, MySpace page, etc.

And here are some other ways you can help me build my cyber presence:

Ask friends to post banners on their web pages.

Post the Ballads of Suburbia book trailer on your web page and ask your friends to do so.

Join my street team and refer friends to join the street team.

Friend me on MySpace, become a fan on Facebook, and follow me on Twitter and encourage your friends to do so.

Blog about Ballads of Suburbia's release.

Mention the book in your email signature or signature on message boards. You can create a sig that says something like "I can't wait to read BALLADS OF SUBURBIA, out July 2009, MTV Books, stephaniekuehnert.com."

Send a (non-spammy) email to your friends and family that you think would enjoy the book.

If you have another idea, go for it! I will probably love it!

Here's how the contest part of this works: Send me a list of links to where you posted a banner/info about BALLADS as well as any other web activities you did (ie. I put info in my signature here, I became your myspace friend and/or your facebook fan, this friend of mine joined the street team, etc). For each link or web activity, you get one contest entry. So, if you get the word out about BALLADS in 10 ways, your name will be entered 10 times and you'll have a better shot at winning.

Deadline: The contest will end on May 21, 2009. Enter as many times as you want. Either send a big list at the end of the contest or email me as you go. Send your lists to stephanie at stephaniekuehnert dot com.

Prizes:

The Grand Prize winner aka the person who has the most contest entries (though they must be a street team member, so go here to join) will win a signed Advanced Review Copy of Ballads of Suburbia, a signed copy of I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone, a copy of the Ballads of Suburbia Soundtrack, and a gift certificate to Amazon.com.

Two Runners-Up will received signed ARCs of Ballads and the Ballads soundtrack

Lastly, I will draw 5 names at random and those people will receive BALLADS swag packs including bookmarks and signed cover flats. I will give you enough swag so you have some to keep and some to pass out around town.
